Sant Martí d’Empuries

The most historic promenade in Catalonia is in a corner of incomparable beauty: 2.6 kilometres and 2,600 years of history. Strolling from Sant Martí d'Empúries to l'Escala, you will come into contact with the legacy of the Greeks and Romans who created the first settlements on the peninsula during the classical era. We will also discover the medieval history of Sant Martí and the County of Empúries, with numerous vestiges such as the church of Sant Martí and the former County Palace. We will continue with a walk under the shade of the pines, following the coastline, full of surprises and beautiful little corners – the most pleasant coastal path in all of Empordà. We will arrive at the town of l'Escala, where fishermen used to leave their boats on the beach and where anchovies are still salted today. The tour ends in one of the village taverns, for anyone who fancies trying the anchovy from l'Escala!
